Foundation Coordinator

Dear Parent/s,

As the 2020 foundation year level coordinator I would like to extend a warm welcome to all the students and their families this year. We trust that your child’s education at Sirius College would be a memorable and successful one.

I am looking forward to getting to know your child and seeing how well they are settling into their new school and classroom. I know each foundation teacher is very excited to meet their new students, and we look forward to a productive year where we empower students to become lifelong, happy learners. In the pursuit of getting the best out of our students we try to provide the best possible environment for healthy development through a carefully planned and structured environment in which the child grows and learns in a natural way and fun way.

I am looking forward to a productive partnership with you to ensure your child can achieve their full potential. We recognize that in order to be successful in school, children thrive in an environment that supports their learning from both their home and school, and we have faith that through our working partnership we will achieve the best outcomes for your child. In this endeavour we ask that you guide and support your child’s learning by ensuring that your child:

  1. Attends school daily, and arrives on time, ready for the day’s learning experience.
  2. Completes all homework assignments given by teachers including Reading Eggs/Eggspress and Mathletics online tasks.
  3. Reads daily to develop a love for reading and to improve English skills.
  4. Shares school experiences with you so that you are aware of his/her school life.

Please find below important reminders for you and your child.

Healthy Lunchboxes

A healthy mind is a healthy body! Good nutrition is essential. Please ensure that your child has fruit and/or vegetables, sandwich and healthy snacks. Please ensure you supply fresh fruit/veggies and a bottle of water along with your child’s lunch. We would like to minimise junk, processed and pre-packaged foods. Soft drinks, lollies and chocolates are not welcome in our classrooms. Due to allergies we ask parents not to send nut or nut related foods, including nutella.

No Hat Shade Play

Please remember that we are a Sunsmart school and ALL students must wear their hats during Term 1 and Term 4. We encourage all families to apply some sunscreen before school.

If you have questions or concerns that arise at any time, please do not hesitate to give your child’s teacher or me a call me to discuss any concerns, suggestions, or ideas to help make this the best year yet! I look forward to having a long and rewarding relationship with you and your family.

Kind Regards,

Mrs Emel Akgun
